Lace Up Your Shoes for Children with Physical Disabilities During This Biking Ride Fundraiser

On the morning of Sunday, May 5th, McMains Children's Developmental Center will host the 11th Annual No Such Thing as Impossible Bike Ride fundraiser benefiting Wheels to Succeed. Wheels to Succeed is a signature program of McMains Children's Developmental Center that provides specially adapted bikes to children with disabilities.

This yearly event celebrates the life of Jairo Alvarez, a local businessman, author, and cyclist who was a passionate supporter of many children’s charities including Wheels to Succeed. Known for his award-winning autobiography “No Such Thing as Impossible: From Adversity to Triumph,” it was Mr. Alvarez’s vision that all children have the opportunity to know the joy of riding a bike, including children with physical disabilities.

This vision is becoming a reality as the Wheels to Succeed program has awarded 158 adapted bikes to children with disabilities since its inception in 2007. The event features a 10-, 40-, and 75-mile ride, as well as, a Kids Fun Ride open to children of all abilities. Registration for the 10-, 40- and 75-mile is $50. Registration/packet pick-up begins at 6:30 a.m.

Those attending can register online at http://mcmainscdc.org/page/No-Such-Thing-As-Impossible or register on the day of the event. Children can participate for free during the Kids’ Fun Ride. We look forward to seeing you at the No Such Thing As Impossible Bike Ride!
